Background

Ivaurault is the second son of the Courcelle family, having been born about a year after his elder brother. Because of this, they were close at first growing up, but gradually became more distant as Ivaurault began to understand what it meant to have been born second. Driven by a desire to step out from the shadow of his brother, Ivaurault worked tirelessly to become a squire at a young age. This same tenacity would earn him a full knighthood by the time he reached adulthood, and would carry him through the grueling days of dragoon training.But in the end he would succeed where many others had failed; he earned both his lance and his drachen mail. The day he did so was the proudest day of his life. And the next he went to war.He would prove to be a fierce warrior on the battlefield, standing bravely in the face of dragon fire and fang. His epithet, the Bloodthorn, he earned during a confrontation with a great wyrm and it's heretic followers. Where most of his comrades fell, Ivaurault was able to harry the beast enough to secure the killing blow. Yet that battle seemed to change something in the young knight, for he grew more angry and outspoken about the evils of heresy afterwards.With the Dragonsong War's end, Ivaurault remains on active duty hunting down the remnants of Nidhogg's brood. When not called upon to do his duty to his country, however, he is busy dealing with that of his house. He had never really expected to see the War's end, let alone to survive it, so all of the societal concerns and future plans he had been putting off dealing with due to the excuse of likely dying during the next battle suddenly became far more immediate.Much to his chagrin.

Knight Dragon.   Ivaurault has faithfully served Ishgard as a knight dragoon for well over a decade. He is very likely to know other dragoons, as well as other knights who served up until the end of the war.Lord Courcelle.   Despite being the second son, Ivaurault has secured the heirship to his house and is posed to one day become the Viscount Courcelle. As a result, he travels in highborn social circles, attends exclusive parties, and makes his expected appearances at all of the social balls. Maybe you've seen him there?Forbidden Love.   During his early days as a dragoon, it is said that Ivaurault became very close to one of his lowborn comrades, and that when the other man died he went into a rage, felling every wyrm and heretic that stood in his way. Even years later, the rumors still linger.No Forgiveness.   Though he does not often wade into the realm of politics, Ivaurault has made little secret of his opinions regarding former heretics; namely, that offering traitors clemency is a mistake.Big Game Hunter.   With the war over, Ivaurault has taken up hunting in order to keep his instincts and lance arm sharp. He and his deep red chocobo can occasionally be found in Coerthas and the Forelands, tracking down vicious beasts.
